Mautic Project Lead

Community has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. From growing up in a small Dorset village to singing in choirs, joining the Sea Cadets and any number of groups at university, I have always found or built a tribe around the things I care about.

So when the opportunity came up to work as a Community Manager supporting an open source project I was passionate about, I jumped at the chance and haven’t looked back since. In May 2020 I stepped up to Project Lead as DB Hurley stepped back from the role, and I have led Mautic ever since.

Community management is a wonderfully diverse profession. It lets me bring a wide range of skills into play, and it has pushed me to learn a whole load of new ones too. Leading the Mautic community brings together my geekiness with my love of people, and lets me channel my energy into helping others succeed, which is one of my core values.

As any community manager will tell you, it is also a real challenge. Working on a project you care deeply about makes it hard to switch off, and leading a community that never sleeps can leave you feeling as though you are always on call. It is a balancing act, and a daily one - but it is also an exciting opportunity to help an open source project grow and thrive.
