About me

Breathworks trustee

Why I became a trustee of Breathworks, and why a charity teaching mindfulness for living well with pain and illness sits so close to my own experience.

In 2021 I was invited to become a trustee of Breathworks, a charity teaching mindfulness-based approaches to living with pain, illness and stress.

As someone who lives with chronic pain and a life-altering disability, the principles behind Breathworks are something that makes my heart sing. I have been fortunate to be on retreat several times with Vidyamala Burch, the charity’s founder, and have learned so much from her teaching on living well with pain and disability. It was a real honour to be able to bring my skills in the web and marketing world to benefit the organisation she established more than twenty years ago.

The pandemic brought immense challenges to Breathworks, whose in-person courses around the world had long been one of the mainstays of its work. It also brought an opportunity to digitalise a lot of what the charity does, making the teachings and the courses more accessible to a much wider audience. I have loved being part of that shift.

I am genuinely excited by the future plans for Breathworks, and can’t wait to see it grow around the world, taking these important teachings out to the people who need to hear them.
